Lava Field, McKenzie Pass, Oregon

Lava field at the McKenzie Pass (5325 feet above sea level). It's just part of the 65 square mile lava flow from a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago. At this point, the road is carved through the lava field, and this is how the landscape looks on all sides.

(Sony A100, iso 100, 50mm, f/20, 1/13 sec, tripod), McKenzie Pass, Oregon, September 21, 2007
